The overall purpose of themiddlepath.net is to forward an up graded version of human consciousness and behavior. The current version is one I refer to as “Survivalist.” A survivalist consciousness was crucial to humanity’s struggle to endure as a species. It is characterized by a ferociously hardcore, competitive, fragmentation of nature—the ancient Reptilian brain. It is “Us” against our environment, and against others of our own species in a bitter competition for survival. However, what was once necessary for our survival is now poisonous!

Very recently in human history, our knowledge and technology have made it possible, for the very first time, for there to be sufficiency for humanity. There is now enough to go around--basic nutrition, clothing, shelter and medical care. We now have what it takes, materially, to settle down and transform our survivalist ways. A “sufficiency” consciousness would mean a new human, a profoundly kinder and gentler human, representing as radical an evolutionary leap as when the first fish walked on land.

The issue now is whether humanity will make the evolutionary leap, the emotional leap of consciousness from conflict to peace. What is at stake…is everything. Ironically, the barriers to a new human are the very biology and emotion that have facilitated our survival. Human biology and emotion do not change as quickly or easily as technology. Currently as a species, we are more cunning than wise. The Middlepath.net takes a stand for wisdom and compassion based upon objective, pragmatic, fact based knowledge.

What is meant by well being, is healthy mind, healthy body, material sufficiency, creativity, spirituality, fun…you know, all the best stuff.

What is meant by maximizing is an ongoing life process of striving to be the very best that you can be.

What is meant by in your life is the inclusion of others and our physical environment as part of our own self.

The Middlepath.net takes a stand for the well being of children as a fundamental first order priority, in the manner of current environmental issues. The appropriate nurture of children would eliminate most of the crime and addiction in our communities. From any perspective, material, emotional, or spiritual, children need to come first. The issue is not charity, it is fundamental to who are and could be as a species.
